Kigoos Flu Shot Clinic

Posted by Kigoos Swim Club at Oct 26, 2020 7:39PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

We hope all our families are staying safe and well and that our swimmers are enjoying our 2020 Tsunami season.

We are very happy to be able to offer our Kigoos families our very own Kigoos Flu Shot Clinic this Sunday, November 1st at Watermania between 3:00 – 5:00pm.

This incredible opportunity is made possible by Nelli Jakac (Coach Mike’s mother). Some families may have already heard about the tragic fire on Cambie Street in Vancouver that destroyed five family businesses. Unfortunately, one of the businesses was the Jakac’s Pharmasave. We would like to support Coach Mike’s family by hosting our Kigoos Flu Shot Clinic – vaccines are FREE to all families by filling in the Pharmasave Flu Vaccine Consent form.

Please use the following link to book your families appointment slots.
https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0948a8ae2dabfb6-kigoos

Please review the available slots and click on the button to sign up. In order to maintain contact tracing, EACH family member must be registered for their own slot. You may register as many family members as you need.

Please print your consent form and bring it with you on Sunday, November 1st. We will have additional forms available on Sunday as well.

We must have a minimum of 20 slots booked in order run the clinic, if more slots are required, we will open more times. You will receive a confirmation email of the Flu Shot Clinic by Friday, Oct. 30th.

Thank you for supporting the Jakac family and staying healthy by being vaccinated for the flu!

Thank you,

Kigoos Board of Directors

Dust off your swim bags! Our Tsunami season is about to begin…

Coach Mike and his team are very excited to see all our Kigoos back to the pool this weekend! Attached to this email is your swimmers training group assignment and swim times.

Swimmer are reminded of key swimming protocols from our Return to Swim Plan:

• Swimmers/Guardians MUST complete the online Health Screening and Declaration linked to our website (www.kigoos.com) before each practice. Any swimmer who feels ill in any way, or is specifically experiencing key symptoms of COVID-19 will not be permitted to attend practice.

• Once in the pool, coaches will assign swimmers a physically distanced “home base” for their start/stop/rest/coaches feedback. There will be markers (cones/flags) provided so swimmers in the middle know where to stop

• If a swimmer is unable to follow the proper social distancing procedures after reminders from a coach, the coach has the discretion to ask the swimmer to leave the practice and be picked up immediately by their parent/guardian

• Swimmers are to bring their own personal equipment to training sessions (kick boards, pull buoys, fins). Equipment will not be shared.

• Swimmers should come prepared with a pre-filled water bottle.

• All swimmers must wear googles, and swim caps are strongly encourage.

DROP OFF/PICK UP PROCEDURES:

• Only swimmers and coaches will be allowed in the swimming environment –parents/guardians are encouraged to “drop and go” and/or wait in their vehicles

• Swimmers should arrive at the facility no earlier than 5 minutes before the start of the scheduled practice. Late arrival admission will be at the discretion of the coach. Arriving after the start of practice does not guarantee entrance into the practice area

• Upon completion of practice, swimmers will collect their belongings and exit the pool immediately according to facility traffic flow. Swimmers are STRONGLY DISCOURAGED from showering/changing after practice.

• Parents must be ready to pick up swimmers at the designated finish of the practice. Coaches will not supervise the pick-up area. Parents are reminded to maintain social distancing while waiting for swimmers, and are encouraged to wear face masks if social distancing is difficult. Gathering in large groups at the facility entrance will not be allowed.

We can’t wait to see you at the pool!

Tsunami 2020 & Coaching Opportunities

Posted by Kigoos Swim Club at Sep 21, 2020 8:02AM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Welcome back Kigoos!

Online Registration will open shortly for our Tsunami winter maintenance program. Tsunami practices will be held at Watermania with our usual Saturday and Sunday evening slots beginning October 3rd. We will split Tsunami into two separate registrations: October to December and January to April. Registrations will be limited due to COVID social distancing requirements. More details and a registration link to follow very soon.

We will also be able to welcome back Masters swimmers at Watermania on Tuesday and Thursday nights 8-9PM.

At this time we are asking all aspiring coaches who are interested in a position with the Kigoos to email their resume, by noon on Tuesday, September, 22nd to our Hiring Committee via vp@kigoos.com. Preference will be given to candidates who have current NLS and CPR-C qualifications, as well as any coaching courses including Swimming 101.

Currently, due to COVID restrictions, our return to swim plan still does not allow JD’s to participate. As such, we may not be able to utilize any CIT’s at this time; however, we are hopeful that restrictions will be relaxed as the season goes on. Interested swimmers can email their resume to vp@kigoos.com for potential coaching opportunities at a later date.

Finally, as we continue to navigate through this new COVID norm, we ask that everybody, please think about what they can do to support the club with volunteer (socially distanced) hours that we must accrue in order to be eligible for the gaming grant. Please email Jamie G. at volunteers@kigoos.com with any general ideas.

Stay safe and well,
Richard Buckley
