Super 7 Swim Meet Information

Posted by Kigoos Swim Club at Jun 14, 2023 7:49PM PDT

Good Evening Kigoos,

This email is for swimmers and families attending the Super 7 meet this weekend at Watermania Pool in Richmond.

A Sign-up Genius will be sent out this evening with Kigoos timing shifts for the meet. You can also access the link here. We will also be sending out the sign-up for Stroke and Turn officials. Each club attending a meet is responsible to provide timers and officials for the meet to run smoothly. If your swimmer is attending the meet, please aim to sign-up for at least one shift to help out.

Club Warm-up Times:
Saturday, June 17th
7:45-8:20 AM- Seniors and Technical Training Group
8:05-8:40 AM- Intermediates and Juniors

Sunday, June 18th
8:00-8:35 AM- Seniors and Technical Training Group
8:20-8:55 AM- Intermediates and Juniors

Parking: There is ample parking at Watermania pool; however, please avoid parking in the area around The Extreme Air Park.

Relays and Individual Events: Please have swimmers check with their coaches to see if they are on a relay. Relays happen at every swim meet, both Saturday and Sunday. If you are not able to stay for relays you need to make a note when you sign up for the meet in the comment section of the Google form. If you don’t say that you are not available, your swimmer will likely be in a relay. Please do not leave the meet without checking in with the coaches. When one swimmer doesn’t show up for relays, there are 3 disappointed swimmers who cannot compete. In addition, our Club pays fees for each event your swimmer is entered in. When they don’t show up for their events or choose not to swim the events, we are still charged fees. Please trust our coaches who work with the swimmers daily, and allow them to make decisions about which events your swimmer is entered in.

Concessions – The Stingrays will be opening a concession over the weekend serving Coffee, Cookies, Corn nuts, Sun chips, Assorted chips, Gatorade/G2, Vitamin water, Bottled water, Candy bags, Twizzlers, Bubly, Pizza, Samosa, Ramen.

The meet package is attached below for additional information about the meet. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out!

See you at the pool!

May Schedule and Summer 2023 Group Lists

Posted by Kigoos Swim Club at Apr 17, 2023 9:48AM PDT

Hello Kigoos Families!

We are so excited that the swim season is just two weeks away! Let’s hope this rain turns to sunshine on May 1st.

Attached you will find the practice schedule for May and the training group lists. All practices take place at Steveston Outdoor Pool rain or shine. Don’t worry, the pool is heated!

For practices you will see a dryland time and a pool time. Dryland is made up of exercises outside of the pool to warm up our swimmers before practice. Be sure your child comes prepared for dryland in exercise attire, ideally dressed in runners, shorts and a t-shirt (depending on weather they may want to wear sweatpants, leggings or a sweatshirt). In addition, please be sure to have a water bottle, towel, goggles, swim cap (encouraged for swimmers with longer hair) and a swim practice appropriate bathing suit for the water.

The training groups were carefully and purposely made up based on division, age and ability. As the swimmers practice in the first week or two there may be some small adjustments to group placement, and we will keep you updated if you child is affected by this.

If you have any questions about group placements or training schedule, please reach out to our Head Coach Megan at headcoach@kigoos.com.

Looking forward to seeing you VERY SOON at the pool!

Kigoos CIT Call-Out - Summer 2023

Posted by Kigoos Swim Club at Apr 16, 2023 11:37AM PDT

Hello Kigoos!

The Club is looking for swimmers in Division 4 and up who are interested in volunteering as Coaches-in-Training (CITs) for our Junior Development and Tater Tot programs this summer.

Working alongside our Coaches, CITs assist with dryland, help set up the pool, and are in the water to provide feedback to swimmers. This year, we are using a rotating schedule for our CITs and the commitment for each CIT is two to three 1.5 hour sessions per week. In May and June, the general timing of the practices is Monday to Friday, 3:30pm-5pm and in July it is Monday to Thursday, 4:45pm-6:15pm and Fridays 3:30pm-5pm.

This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in a paid coaching position in the future. Additionally, your volunteer hours may be used to fulfill school requirements for volunteer and/or work experience. The Club is also happy to provide letters of reference/recommendation for CITs who display a dedication to the role.

Interested swimmers should forward a resume to Coach Megan at headcoach@kigoos.com.

Depending on the response, we may not be able to accommodate all applicants. If you are an applicant who is selected, please ensure that you can commit to attending your assigned sessions throughout the summer.

Thank you!
