Coach Ashleigh - Week 4

Hello JD families!

We hope you have been enjoying the long weekend! Great work once again to all swimmers this past week. Here is this week’s look at a glance:

WEEKLY FOCUS
This week, our groups will continue improving dives and streamline/rocket ship push offs into their freestyle swimming. Additionally, we will begin working on back flutter kick as we work toward swimming backstroke. It is quite important to make it out to as many practices as possible.

SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
As there were no swimmers of the week this week, there will instead be four swimmers of the week that will be announced on Friday. Keep up the great attendance, attentiveness, effort, and improvement!

CAPS (FOR SWIMMERS WITH LONG HAIR) AND GOOGLES
As we approach swim meets, the coaches would like for our swimmers to be comfortable wearing both caps and googles. Not wearing caps and/or goggles can create bad habits leading to improper technique. It can also become a safety hazard as long hair can get tangled in lane ropes, and it makes it hard for swimmers to see the wall/other swimmers during turns. Thank you for your help with this!

KIGOO BUCKS
The Kigoo Mart will be open again this Friday! Swimmers are able to exchange their collected Kigoo bucks for candy and/or toys. Please ensure your swimmer keeps their Kigoo Bucks and does not lose them!

SWIM MEET SIGN UP LINKS
(Last chance to sign up for Mock Meet and Ice Breaker)
We are quickly getting ready for swim meets to begin. Our weekend swim meets are designed for swimmers who are comfortable racing at least 50 metres (except for the 6&under 25 m events). If unsure, swimmers can check-in with their coach to see if weekend meets are right for them. Development meets are held on Wednesday evenings, and are designed for newer swimmers in Divisions 1-3. Meet packages are posted on the Kigoos website as they become available. Please look there for more detailed information about the meet.
