Thursday, July 29 – Beach Day was awesome. It was collecting clams, skimboarding, being towed by the Girards—another great summer day. The Stair Climb was won by Dominic H.—congratulations! We got lots of heat, which wore some of us out, so now we need to rest, drink lots of water, stay out of the sun and do something very relaxing for these last nine days before Regional Championships.
Regionals entries go in on Monday, and once they are received by the Region, nothing can be changed. So everyone, check the postings at the pool to make sure you’re signed up and signed up for the events you're planning to swim.
Thursday, July 23 is Club Photo Day. The schedule is posted at the pool and on the website. Be there to be immortalized as part of the 2010 Kigoos team.
Thursday, August 5 is the last day of practice before Regionals. Practices will be shortened, as the coaches will be serving up pasta to the swimmers in preparation for the competition ahead on the 6th, 7th and 8th. Watch for the posted times at the pool and on the website, but come to Pasta Night prepared to swim. Swimmers should bring their own plates, cutlery and drinks for the dinner.

Senior A – Coach Cody
Thursday, July 29 – Good work last week Senior A’s. Peak training week challenged us, but I feel we rose to the challenge nicely.
Congratulations to these outstanding Grouse Grind climbers:
Daniel Y. (40.0)
Ben K. (40.3)
Ella K. (51.5)
Hilary S. (51.59)
...and good work to everyone who came out.
If you've been attending meets and fine-tuning your competition skills, that will certainly help you when you're competing at Regionals.
Swimmer Of The Meet for the following meets are:
North Van Cruisers Hootenany: Chris G.
Vancouver Vikings: Jason C
WRASA: Desmond F
Salt Spring Stingrays: Eleanor C
The Salt Spring meet really put the “summer” in summer swimming. We had sun, lake swimming, camping, and relaxing in the sun on a ferry wending its way through the Gulf Islands—many of the delights of summer that summer swimmers have to give up, and we had them all. The Stingrays were wonderful hosts and truly happy to have us there. The tents all crowded together was part of the fun. Everything combined to make it a very memorable weekend. Thanks to everyone who came out.
I'll be emailing the Seniors list of those signed up for Regionals, with their events listed, and I'll be posting it at the pool. These entries go in Monday AND THEY CANNOT BE CHANGED AFTER THEY GO IN—so please check them and let me know if you need something changed.

Senior B – Coach Benji
Thursday, May 20 – It's been a good 3 weeks. Practices have not been easy. Poor attendance is hurting many of you, especially in the mornings, which will be the grit and grind of the season.
Stay focused, and measure your success from the distance you can jump from each failure!
P.S.: Bring your water bottles. (I'll bring the Gatorade.)

Intermediate A – Coach Matt
Monday, July 19 – Congratulations on completing Hell Week. I can tell you worked hard because most of you were tired at the WRASA meet.
This week our routine will be back to normal. This means 20 minutes of turns each morning (touch turns this week) and 20 minutes three times a week of dives.
Our stroke focus this week will be IM and Fly. Expect to continue to work hard in practices. You can look forward to fun Monday morning practices and Friday Night Lights though. Since Regionals is coming up soon, I'll be meeting with each of you to discuss the events you will swim. Please speak with your parents and let me know if you're available all three days of Regionals (Friday too). I'll also be able to tell you if I think you should book a hotel in Kamloops for Provincials, if you haven't already.
Some upcoming events:
- Monday, July 19: Buddy Breakaway club social event at Steveston Pool from 5:30–9. No practices.
- Wednesday, July 21: Those who attended all the Hell Week practices will be meeting at Steveston Pool at 5:45 pm and going for ice cream.
Swimmer Of The Meet at the NVC Hootenanny was Vincent Man. Congratulations, and enjoy your Kigoos towel.

Intermediate B – Coach Sean
Tuesday, July 13 – Hey Intermediate B's! Terrific start to Hell Week everyone! Now that I have seen the intensity that all of you can bring to a practice, we need to make sure to carry that through the rest of the week.
A few quick notes before the week ends:
- Friday morning is a "No Shirt, No Shoes, No Swim" practice. This means you must bring a shirt and shoes to swim in. If you don't have any shoes that can be put in the pool, that's fine—just be ready to swim double the amount of meters on Friday morning.
- Excellent job last weekend at the NVC meet. I saw tons of best times from everyone who attended, something each of you should be very proud of.
- If you haven't signed up for the Buddy Breakaway on July 19, posted on the Kigoos board, please do so as it'll be an excellent chance for you to get to know both Seniors and Juniors within the Kigoos.
Keep up the great work Intermediate B's. I look forward to seeing all of you for the rest of Hell Week!

Junior A – Coaches Heather & Liam
Tuesday, June 15 (from Liam) – Hi Junior As... Well done to everyone who came out to the Boundary Bay meet this weekend. It was great to see some of the technical improvements that we've been working on actually used in races! Our Swimmer Of The Meet for B4 will be announced in practice as soon as the official results are in.
This week will be the second half of our large crackdown on mistakes from the Icebreaker, culminating in the Ladner meet at Watermania this weekend. Make sure that during the week you guys continue to come on time, ready to work hard, and able to stay focused during practice time so we can always finish our sets and make the absolute most of the time given to us!
That's all I have for now. Good luck with the last couple weeks of school, and keep up the great attendance!

Thursday, July 29 – Hey Junior B’s! What an awesome week we’ve had! Our Pizza Party last Friday was superb; it was great to see everyone together outside the pool!
The NSWC Meet was awesome! Nearly everyone swam in finals! A special shout out to Hope and Ella for making A finals and to Erika, Ben, Michael and Evan for making B finals. Way to go swimmers! The Swimmer Of The Meet was Erika, who took off 10 seconds!
The Red and White Meet was fantastic! It was awesome seeing everyone dressed up and cheering for their Team! Bring that team spirit to Regionals please!
Our focus for the last few practices before Regionals will be on starts, turns, breakouts and finishes. We won’t be swimming many meters, but come ready for short, fast swims!
One special event to mark on your calendars is our Team Photos this Friday, July 30. The club photo is at 5 pm, and our group photo is at 5:30 pm. Please show up by 4:45 to get ready. Come with your Kigoos swim suits and your biggest smiles. (Individual photos will be from 4-6 pm.)
Quote of the week: “Eat, sleep and swim. That’s all I can do.” – Michael Phelps
The season has passed so quickly! We only have six more practices—so let’s rest up and come out to as many practices as we can! See you on deck!

Tuesday, August 3 – Hey swimmers! Welcome to the last week of the regular swim season. I can’t believe it’s almost over! As we come into these last few days, let’s make sure to come out to as many practices as possible and continue to achieve some best times this weekend.
Congratulations to Shelby J., the Swimmer Of The Meet for North Shore Winter Club two weeks ago. Shelby took off a total of 22 seconds over the course of the meet, including taking off a whopping 5 seconds in a goggleless 50 fly. Awesome work Shelby! Your hard work has paid off!
Our Swimmer Of The Meet for North Delta is the speedy Andrew M.! This weekend Andrew whipped off 14 seconds and received an A Time in 100 Freestyle. Well done Andrew! I look forward to seeing even more best times at Regionals.
Parents: Remember that the most important meet of the year for our club starts this Friday, so be sure to check the validation list outside the pool to see what your child is swimming. Swimmers, be sure you know when warm-ups are, what events you are swimming, and which relays you are on.
Thanks everyone! I’ll see you on deck!

Tuesday, May 25 – Hey JD’s!! Great work this week. We are continually moving up and getting ready for our upcoming meets! However, we all need to make sure we're coming to as many practices as we can!
Parents: If I have spoken to you about the Richmond Kigoos Icebreaker meet the first weekend of July, please be sure you are coming both Saturday and Sunday, for I will have signed up your children for events on both days.
Keep up the good work, JD Golds!
